Privacy Policy

Effective September 8, 2026 · Version 2026-09-08

01

Who we are

Sippy is operated by Mythogen LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, US (registered-agent address for legal notices) ("Sippy", "we", or "us"). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Contact team@trysippy.app with privacy questions or requests. This policy covers our app, websites, and related services.

02

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated when you use Sippy, and information supplied by service providers or public sources:

  • Account and support information: account identifiers, Sign in with Apple information that Apple makes available, name, email address, correspondence, and legal acknowledgement records.
  • Your activity and content: saved places and drinks, sip logs, ratings, notes, people records you create, preferences, city votes, suggestions, reports, photographs, and other content you choose to submit. Please avoid including unnecessary information about other people.
  • Location and searches: location you permit the app to access, locations you select, and searches needed to provide maps, place lookup, and discovery. Map and autocomplete requests may be processed by Apple or another identified map provider. Denying device location access does not prevent browsing or manually choosing a place.
  • Usage and technical information: interactions with features, app and device information, identifiers associated with an account or installation, network information such as IP address, and crash, performance, and security diagnostics. Our app uses PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for reliability monitoring. Their configured event payloads exclude private note text, people-log details, raw menu text, and raw report text.
  • Public and contributed catalog information: information about bars, drinks, businesses, and their publicly identified staff from public sources, business representatives, and contributors.

Device settings and some cached content are stored locally. Information collected depends on the features you use and the permissions you grant. A future feature may request additional information; we will explain that collection when the feature is introduced.

03

How we use information

We use information to operate and secure Sippy; authenticate accounts; save and synchronize content; provide maps, discovery, and personalization; review contributions; improve catalog accuracy; respond to support requests; measure usage and reliability; prevent misuse; meet legal obligations; and develop and evaluate features.

We may introduce recommendations, social or sharing features, business services, research, promotions, paid features, or advertising. These possibilities are not a statement that every such feature is active. We will provide feature-specific information and obtain permission where required before materially expanding collection or use. Accepting this policy is not blanket consent to tracking or to every future use.

04

Private content and contributions

Your personal sip logs, saved lists, notes, and people records are not public catalog entries. Authorized personnel and service providers may process them to provide, support, and protect the service.

Reports, suggested edits, and attached photos are shared with authorized reviewers. We may use factual corrections and relevant evidence to update the public catalog. Submitting a report does not automatically publish your identity or private note history. If we introduce public profiles or content-sharing features, the feature will explain what becomes visible and to whom before you publish.

05

Advertising and commercial uses

Sippy currently does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and the iOS app does not currently perform third-party advertising tracking.

We may introduce contextual advertising, sponsored placements, affiliate links, or advertising measurement. Sponsored content will be identified. Personalized advertising or partner data sharing, if introduced, will be described in an updated notice and relevant choices before it starts. Where applicable, we will provide opt-outs for sale, sharing, or targeted advertising, honor legally required preference signals, and obtain consent for tracking or access to advertising identifiers. We will not treat an iOS tracking refusal as permission to track by another method.

Existing information remains subject to the promises made when it was collected unless a lawful change, including any required consent, permits a new use. Merely posting an updated policy does not override those promises.

06

When we disclose information

We disclose information to providers that help with hosting, authentication, maps, storage, analytics, reliability, communications, security, and other service operations, for the purposes described here. Providers receive information appropriate to their role. We may also disclose information at your direction; to comply with law or valid legal process; to protect rights, safety, and security; or as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, or transfer of business assets, subject to applicable protections and notice requirements.

We may create and use aggregated or de-identified information for analysis, research, product development, and business reporting. Where information is represented as de-identified, we will maintain it in that form and not attempt to identify individuals except as permitted by law to assess the de-identification process.

07

Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for its purpose, considering account activity, the feature involved, support needs, legal requirements, security, and dispute resolution. Account deletion may leave limited records needed for those purposes and copies in backups until their normal replacement cycle. Public factual catalog corrections may remain after the contributor's account is deleted without retaining a public link to that account.

We use safeguards appropriate to the information and service. No storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security.

08

Your choices and rights

You can manage device permissions in Settings, edit supported account content in the app, and request account deletion through the app or team@trysippy.app. Signing out removes access to the local session; it does not itself delete your server account.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, obtain a copy of, correct, delete, or restrict information; object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of certain advertising or profiling uses. Contact us to exercise a right. We may need to verify your identity and, where permitted, an authorized agent's authority. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Where a right of appeal applies, reply to our decision requesting an appeal. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

09

International users

Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Where international-transfer safeguards are required, we use an applicable transfer mechanism and can provide information about it on request.

Where UK or European data protection law applies, our processing relies, as appropriate, on providing the service you request, our legitimate interests in operating and improving a secure service subject to your rights, legal obligations, or consent. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. We do not use automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

10

Age eligibility

Sippy is for adults of legal drinking age where they use it and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information, contact us so we can investigate and address it.

11

Changes and contact

We will date policy updates and provide additional notice of material changes. We will obtain consent where required, including before uses of previously collected information that require new consent. Contact team@trysippy.app or 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, US (registered-agent address for legal notices).
